Tour part 1

On the first day of tour everything was pretty normal apart from the fact that everyone had to wake up a three in the morning. I was going with one of my bands down to Melbourne and it had taken more than half and hour to get everyone's bags, instruments and other unnecessary objects on the plane. It was about an hours flight from Sydney apart from all the ruckus it was a pretty normal experience.

When we got there we had a workshop with the AYB (Australian Youth Band)... they were amazing!!!! I WAS IN HAPPY LAND!!! There were other two other tenor sax players and they thought I played really well after they found out how hard our pieces were. After the prac session we had a barbecue with them out the front of the school in which they practice.

We traveled to Wonderland Fun Park and we were all sooooo excited about what we were going to do. It ended up being a fun park for little kids, it was only one quarter the size of Sydney's Luna Park. Any way, we played for a good half hour and then went on the mini rides - soooo adorable. Mark (our conductor) he just said that performing there was an excuse for being able to get onto the rides. The one major thing that we saw was the construction of a Ferris Wheel, it was going to be 70m by 70m on top of an 90m pole. HUGE!!!

After that little adventure we retired at the Hotel Ibis for a bit before going back out to see the Jazz festival at Federation Square while eating Pizza. We managed to get to bed at about 11pm and I was dead, no complaints from me when it came to sleeping.

Work Experience

I haven't updated for over a week now because I have been at work experience and partly because I haven't been bothered. I worked with my "uncle" up in Alice Springs in the hospitality area and ended up in the kitchen cleaning the whole room, which hasn't been cleaned for over many months. "Research" was one of the things I had to do which happened to be in the Desert park and the Botanical Gardens.

When I was cleaning the kitchen, I had completely turned it upside down and came down to the last thing I was going to do, the stove.

I managed to hurt my self on the least dangerous object in the whole kitchen the button the stove! My hand slipped, my nail got caught on the button while splitting it in half and making me feint in the process.

Even thought that part of Work experience was traumatic the rest of it was extremely pleasant taking people on tour just North for Alice. The only awkward experience was that I ended up having to call my parents Sir and Mam while serving them drinks on a platter.

This weekend I am going to be on tour and I will try and tell you all about it.
See you!

Commotion

Yesterday was the funniest day ever, three unexpected things happened all at once.

I came to school and everything seemed normal until I came to second period. Mind you, our school has four eighty minuet periods during the day. As soon as I settled down next to my friends, a teacher comes in and states that we had to get injections. I knew that I was going to happen sometime soon but not yesterday.

I started to head down to meet the needles, with some of my other classmates who also had to get the injections, when the siren sounded for a fire. The whole school, all thousand of us, rushed down to the oval and waited for over an hour on the wet soggy grass only to find out that it was just burnt toast in the boarding house kitchen. Later on that day, we had another fire during fourth period. We ended up once again on the wet grass only to find out half an hour later that the fire bell hadn't been reset and just wen off for no reason.

Yesterday wasn't the best day in the world but it made a huge excuse to bludge class, which everyone took advantage of. I bet everyone in my year is regretting this decision because we will have to make up for all the work we missed after we come back from work experience next week.

The other thing that happened yesterday that was new to me was that I walked home from school but that wasn't as interesting as the rest of my day.

My friends awesomeness

One of my friends at school is extremely good at playing the Organ, Piano, Cello. She is in many different ensembles and other musical groups that have extremely high reputations within the school community.

During her lunches she goes to the chapel to practice organ and today I tagged along to see what it is like. It is so amazing just to sit and listen to her play even though she keeps on saying the opposite and as I sit and listen to her play I get tingling feelings traveling down my spine, it feels as if there is some one watching us, it is kinda creepy but nice in a way.

She says that practicing when it is raining and dark is super creepy and scary. It is ironic that she can play the Phantom of the Opera on the organ. I can't imagine her sitting at the organ in the chapel by herself playing Andrew Loyd Weber's music on a dark, raining and evil looking night with thunder in the background. Although she does try to convince me by playing it at the moment while I am typing.

My Mother

My mother, I owe everything to her even though she can get on my nerves sometimes. Since I am an only child I have learned to make do with what I have got i.e. my parents. I guess it is a good thing since my dad behaves like an older bother to me rather than a fatherly figure at times.

My mum and I have gotten into lots of arguments over the last few days including

  1. The Deodorant argument

  2. The Education and Careers argument

  3. The Boyfriend

  4. The "how the heck am I meant to do this with a sore arm from injections" argument

  5. The Piano argument (even though this happens every time I play - mum and I have very different ideas about music)

Overall, I think that my parents have got to be the best and we have the most fun at times even though they can be extremely strict when it comes to my education and everything like that. Well I guess that most parents are when they want their children to succeed.

Career's night

Last night was the one of the funniest nights that I have had in a while.

It started off with me being dragged out of the warm house to school at about 6:40 pm. There were three session in which we had to pick three different rooms with people who had many different careers. These people had graduated from our school and moved into the work force but yet staying in contact with everyone that they knew.

I turned out that I knew two of the people there one was my old tae-qwan-do instructor and my English tutor... (talk about awkwardness). On top of this I spent all three sessions interrogating this water engineer taking up everyone else's time with her and receiving glares from everyone (if looks could kill I would be dead a thousand times over) .

At the end of the night my mum asked if I had gained anything from that experience and the only answer that she received was a dull no accompanied by snoring.

Countries

Countries, you think of them as big islands that people live on. Well I certainly don't. Hetalia, a popular Japanese anime, has ruined my thinking about countries and although it is funny it has changed my way of viewing the world.

Each country is stereotypically represented by one character e.g. North Italy (the main character) loves pasta and retreats from every meeting with other countries by using a white flag...

Back Row: Russia, Spain, South Italy, Germany

Middle Row... : Lithuania, England, Austria, China, Japan, France (the guy with the heart on his head) and North Italy.

Front Row: America (always wanting to be the hero), Finland and Sweden

Mind you these are only the main characters - they have almost the whole world and I can't wait for Australia and New Zealand.

this is the link to the proper wiki of all the characters : http://hetalia.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Hetalia:_Axis_Powers_Characters

People you shouldn't watch it if you are prone to dying of laughter but you become very good at History and Geography!

The next few weeks

The next few weeks are hectic even though I have finished all of my exams there are a heap of things to do before the end of term in 5 weeks time.

  • Music expressionist task

  • Music prac performance

  • Christian Studies

  • D&T evaluation for my garment that I made

  • PE dance comp due

  • Work Experience

  • Symphonic Winds Tour!!!

  • The dreaded Parent-Teacher Evening

That's not even in the thick of it. Death week had past ages ago i.e. in week two of term two and week six of term one.

I had better get onto knocking over D&T now and practice my blabbing skills.

The difference between a tenor and alto saxaphone

When reading this refer back to the picture. (from left to right: mini soprano, soprano, alto, tenor, barry or baritone)

Everyone gets the tenor and the alto sax completely mixed up. The main differences are:

  1. The tenor is bigger

  2. The alto is more commonly used

  3. The tenor is used more often in Jazz than the alto

  4. The tenor is just better overall

In Symphonic Winds the other day I was waiting for my music to be handed out, one of the helpers comes up to me and says here you are alto. I almost threw a fit! The alto's were sitting together behind the clarinets and I was sitting with the bass line along with the barry (baritone saxophone). Then she attempts to give the barry my part and the alto's barry's score.

At least it isn't like that for Jazz everyone knows which instrument is which...

Where to start

OK, where to start on this blog on overly normal life???

Just some house keeping stuff before the "juicy info"...

I am in year 10 and I have had a pleasant first term and part of second term. My electives are commerce, music and design & technology. English is not my best subject (maths and physics are) and I am think about what to do after I leave school. My friends say that I go hyper at times and relate me to a puppy... don't know how that happened.

Likes: music - piano and tenor saxophone, socialising, reading, sports, trying to not get interrogated about everything by my overly obsessive friends and holidays.

Dislikes: homework (which I am not doing by typing this), shopping, people scaring me, tests, being "chained" to my desk during the weekends because I haven't finished doing assignments and FACEBOOK (how can people stand those sorts of things???).

School Activities: Tennis, Tae-Qwan-Do (black belt), Hockey, Cricket, Playing the saxophone for our Symphonic Winds and Jazz Ensemble.

I guess that's it and I'll have to update every time something new comes along.
